Warrior Mum

Created by Kirsty one year ago

Mum had type 1 diabetes from the age of 8 (the 60s)  the advancement from then till now have been amazing to see. As a family diabetes was a huge part of growing up,all of us (her kids and grandkids) learnt the signs of her hypos, and what to inject in emergencies.
Mum was told so many times she would not survive this age,and that age, to the extent she must of lived her life knowing she could pass at anytime!
This did not stop her fighting, everyday and all the time,in and out of hospital with many complications that come with diabetes,Renal failure (dialysis) twice, heart problems, infections after infections especially in the last 3 years,we have nearly lost her so many times that when her body finally gave up,it was a shock! However she saw her kids grow into adulthood and her grandkids into adult teens,I have no idea how she managed to fight through so much pain,to becoming near bed bound and just keep going, until this time she could fight no more, that this time we were not able to take her home like we gave done,so many times before.
She was a true warrior, who did it her way against the doctors orders most of the time, she knew her body and knew what to do to keep it going. She made it to 64yrs of age,and her strength will always be an inspiration.
We will miss her terribly, but knowing she was having her 3rd renal failure, and not being able to get out and about so easily, she deserves peace, out of pain and no more hundreds of hospital visits.

R.I.P Forever with us never forgotten xx
